Record participation marks 2025 South Campus Gallery Student Art and Design Show
The annual San Jacinto College South Campus Gallery Student Art and Design Show concluded
with impressive participation, showcasing the diverse talents of the College's art
community. This year's exhibition featured 152 artworks from 80 student artists.
The show generated record engagement from the campus community, with 768 votes cast by students and community members alongside 58 faculty and staff votes to determine this year's winners.
“I’m always excited to see the diverse range of artwork our students are creating. This year’s exhibition showcased everything from traditional oil painting and collage to digital and video-based art,” said Bradly Brown, South Campus gallery curator. “Each year, new themes emerge that reflect our students’ evolving interests. In this year’s show, I noticed a strong thread of spirituality and introspection running through many of the works.”
Student Choice Award Winners
- Sidonia Dowden with her digital print "Woman of Art (Geisha)" (2024).
- Tanya Celestial for her mixed media piece "Silent Stories and Echoes of Hard Life" (2025).
- Bianca Gomez earned recognition for "After" (2024), a mixed media work.
Faculty Choice Award Winners
- Megan Lagatella for "Apple and Pear Still Life" (2025), an oil painting on canvas.
- Ashantee Harrison with "Veiled in Light, Etched in Shadow 1 (Road)" (2025), black and white photography.
- Itzel Rios for "Your Little Friend" (2025), created with alcohol markers and acrylic.
